Audiobooks to lead the way? Let's find out
In the traditional publishing era, there was a wait for the final book to be printed and be ready for reading; but with the advent of digital technologies which gave birth to eBooks, it made life simpler for authors, publishers, and readers.
Many authors decide to publish their books in the digital format i.e. eBooks first before the final hardbound print version of the book was ready. This reduces the amount of time it takes for authors to make their books available for the readers as well as readers, don’t have to wait to read their favorite author’s book. Also, there are some additional benefits to it such as based on the reader reviews and usage, authors could then decide about releasing the print version.
While this seems like the current trend especially for self-publishing authors, there seems to be a new on this. Enter Audio Books. Based on an article from Goodereader.com, ‘Audible.com brokered a deal with the author David Hewson to publish his latest book, Flood, well ahead of its print or eBook release.’ This is basically an effort to put more emphasis on audio books.
The entire audiobook industry is currently worth around 1.6 billion dollars and should be growing. Reason being, audiobook producers have been increasing their output. Would the audiobook format become a new favorite? Let’s wait and see.
