01What are the core features of the KITABOO platform that make a textbook interactive?
The platform provides multiple enrichment options (20+ widgets) such as audio, video, images, web links, glossary, vocabulary, text-to-speech, read aloud, and various assessments (MCQ, true/false, fill-in-the-blanks, match the pairs). Users can also personalize content through annotations, highlighting, and scribbling with a pen
02Does the reader interface change for teacher and student logins?
In terms of consumption and viewing features, the experience is largely the same for both roles. However, the teacher role has additional options, such as the ability to grade assessments and access holistic analytics reports.
03Where does the assessment data go after a student completes a quiz?
The student receives their score (if automatically graded). The data then goes to the instructor, who can review and grade written answers. Teachers can view performance reports for individual students and see rolled-up assessment values for the entire class.
04Can students and teachers collaborate through the platform?
Yes, users can collaborate. Students can create notes, highlights, and bookmarks and share them peer-to-peer or with teachers, and vice versa.
05What kind of statistics or analytics reports are available?
The platform provides granular analytics, allowing publishers to view activated users, content licenses distributed/used, top 10 active customers, most popular titles, content coverage, user interaction (notes, highlights, bookmarks), usage by device (desktop/tablet/mobile), and usage by geography.
06Can users print specific pages from the digital content?
The publisher can restrict printing. Pages can be selectively marked to allow printing (indicated by a print icon), while others cannot be printed.
07Can a digital book contain a widget that opens another book?
No, that option is not currently available.
08What content formats are supported for conversion into eBooks?
KITABOO Studio supports content creation from multiple formats including PPT, PDF, Word Docs, EPUBs, HTML, and SCORM-based content. InDesign files are also mentioned as a source format.
09Can I author books directly on the platform, or must I convert existing files?
Both are possible. For fixed layout EPUBs, users typically upload files (PDF, PPT) for conversion. Reflowable EPUBs can be authored completely on the platform itself or uploaded if already created externally.
10What is the difference between fixed layout and reflowable content?
Fixed layout EPUBs are more static; they maintain their appearance and structure even if the screen is resized. Reflowable EPUBs resize and are responsive to the screen, supporting features like adjustable fonts, alignment, and reading modes.
11Can I link specific audio files (e.g., pre-recorded dialogues) to a point in the text?
Yes, you can upload audio files and link them to a specific point in the book to be played when the user clicks on the corresponding icon.
12For text-to-speech, is the audio generated by AI or can we use our own recordings?
There is an option for computer-generated voices (male/female, various accents). Additionally, the platform supports audio synchronization, allowing clients to provide pre-recorded audio which is then matched and synchronized with the text highlighting.
13Can KITABOO automatically generate quizzes from a PDF?
Yes, the platform includes a K.AI (KITABOO AI) feature. Users can select a book or chapter, specify the grade and complexity level (basic, intermediate, advanced), and the AI will automatically generate various assessments (MCQ, flashcards, summary) based on the chosen content in seconds.
14Is the content protected against piracy and unauthorized access?
Yes, the content is DRM protected (128-bit encryption). Unauthorized access, copy/paste, and sharing are prevented. On mobile applications, the screenshot feature is disabled to prevent content snippets from being captured.
15Where is the digital content hosted?
The content is hosted on AWS cloud. The books are not stored on the end user's device storage (like a personal folder) but rather on the platform storage itself.
16Does the platform support users with disabilities or special needs?
Yes, the platform is WCAG 2.2 AA compliant, supporting all readers regardless of their abilities, including students with dyslexia or other reading disabilities.
17Is the platform GDPR compliant?

18Do you provide 24/7 customer support for IT issues?
For product-related issues (platform), KITABOO offers 24/7 customer support. A dedicated project manager handles issues via a ticketing tool (Basecamp). Content-related issues are handled by the publisher.
19Who typically purchases and owns the KITABOO software?
The publisher purchases the software/platform licence. The publisher uses the Studio to upload and manage the content, and assigns licenses to end users, schools, or districts.
20What does "white labeled" mean in practice for my customers?
The platform (reader interface, web portal, mobile applications) is completely rebranded with the publisher's logo, colors, and guidelines, often under a subdomain. End users (students/teachers/districts) will only see the publisher's name (e.g., Great Minds, McGraw Hill) and will not see "KITABOO".
21Can the platform support multiple business models (B2B, B2C, B2G) simultaneously?
Yes, the platform supports B2B (schools/institutes), B2C (individual sales), and B2G (government contracts). It can handle institutional sales with bulk licenses (access codes).
22Can one teacher submit assessment answers on behalf of a very young student (e.g., in kindergarten)?
Currently, teachers cannot submit answers on behalf of a student. The assumption is that this feature would require customization for that specific need.

28If we only want to distribute the converted EPUB files on a third-party platform (like Amazon), is that possible?
Yes, you can download the converted EPUB file and upload it elsewhere. However, once the file is downloaded, it will not retain the DRM protection, encryption, or embedded KITABOO interactivities.
